Oh, a very, very lovely girl. Love it. FYI though, yes, there are real animals in the Pokémon world, they're just somewhat rare, and the focus tends to be on the cooler animals that breathe fire and throw electricity from their cheeks. XD
I think most of us would agree, though, that all mentions and illustrations of real-world plants and animals have since been retconned and that's not the only thing that has been.
I saw a review once of Pokémon the Movie: 2000 where they made mention that real-world fruit, as opposed to berries, were at the Ash's hero banquet. This was before berries existed so it's understandable that they weren't there, but, since they were introduced, berries seem to be the only edible plants in existence in the Pokéverse.
And remember in Pokémon the First Movie when they say Mew has the DNA of every pokémon in its genetic code? One word: Arceus. If we take everything into account and say this is valid Mew has the DNA of what is essentially god in the Pokémon universe in its genetic code. (They also mention Minnesota and vikings in the first movie(at least in the English version) which I am particularly proud of, being a Minnesotan. )
